Entry permalink Upcoming Projects -- Posted by Uncorked

Here's my current thinking on quilting projects at the moment:

  • Jo Threads is still underway. I have the setting kit, so while I wait for the blocks from months July-December I have plenty to do in the setting kit. In fact, it seems to me like there's almost as much to do in the setting kit as there is in making the blocks!
  • Wee One is on hold; not sure when or if I'm going to get that. The design is too hard for me, right now (curves).
  • I've ordered someof the fabric for both Rose Petal and Pines. I'm still looking for a particular blue fabric for Rose Petal, actually. It's available at the wholesaler (here), but I can't find a retailer that carries it. I really, really want it, so this is a problem. Also, the design for RP was just finalized today. It's cool.
  • I'm not happy with the design for Berries anymore, and may completely redo it.
  • I have a design for Medal that I'm reasonably happy with, but need to ponder what fabrics/colors to use before finalizing it.
I've also been playing with some Christmas quilt design ideas. Here's a sample.
All those stars make it pretty ambitious to actually make but sometimes it's fun to just design things. I call this design 'Oh Christmas Tree.'

Have you ever been to G-Street Fabrics? It seems that I've seen something very similar to that blue fabric at the Rockville store. Not the same, but very close -- in fact, I bought some in a shockingly bright orange.

Entry permalink BRB finished -- Posted by Uncorked

I have finished the project codenamed 'Mayflower.' Binding is still my terrible cross to bear. In fact, I ripped the first binding off this one and redid it. It's only slightly better, now, but I need to call it done. This is the first quilt that was meant to be a gift from the design stage (although I did give Practice Claws to J after I finished it.) It's marginally acceptable as such -- hopefully I can be forgiven for being a novitiate at both sewing and quilting and crafty stuff in general. In any event, here 'tis!

I'm pretty pleased with the blocks, colors, and overall design. If you know the person who this is for, do not tell her parents about it yet! (It's for our niece's first birthday later this month.)
