Entry permalink Medal Piecing -- Posted by Uncorked

I've been working on the quilt codenamed Medal. It is not quite the same design as the design named Medal, but it was inspired by that. Here are a couple of pictures of pieces of the top in progress.

most excellent! I have some of that feathery fabric myself...this design looks great...you certainly tackle more complicated and difficult blocks Lyn...great work.

Thanks, Cher - I think what's going on is that I'm too ignorant to know what's going to be complicated and what isn't. So far, I work under the assumption that if there are no set-in seams and I have templates, I can probably do it. (And I've done set-in seams in a pinch, but I don't like it.)

None of these blocks are really precise, of course, and once the edges go on the big block some of the points will be blunted a little (oops), but it wasn't so hard to put together. I didn't even have to use the stiffening spray, just some strategically placed pins.

I'm sure if I ever took a quilting class people would be horrified at how I go about this stuff (teehee), but so far the people I'm making quilts for won't be too fussy, I don't think.

There's no medium blue! :)

I really like it -- the color combination feels good.

hey found the url to order the magazine with the string block quilt design I mentioned before:
www.fabrictrends.com it's issue #2. All the issues are available and you can get it from them directly...I bought my copy at my local Barnes and Noble bookshop. I think it's great to dive in and go for stuff...nice to hear it hasn't been too hard either for you-

Cher -- right. I found that site. What I can't figure out is an easy way to subscribe to the magazine through the site. It's very frustrating. Maybe I should just call the main line that I found on the contact page, but I feel like I should be able to subscribe over the web!
