Entry permalink '04 Projects -- Posted by Uncorked

Because I can be a little bit obsessive about things sometimes, I feel compelled to jot down a list of quilt projects I want to do in '04. I'm still behind on my '03 projects (although I did spend a bit of time quilting Snowy Bear this afternoon), but it's good to have goals, no? I'll come up with the codenames for them on the fly in this post:

  • Edwards - a small simple baby quilt
  • Liners - another small simple baby quilt
  • Placemats - I want to learn how to do bargellos by making us a couple of placemats
  • Watertower - a lap quilt
  • Sunflower - another lap quilt
  • Christmas I - yet another lap quilt
  • Jo Threads - Finish this BOTM quilt that I started this year
The baby quilts will be pretty simple. I haven't designed them yet, but I expect to do something fairly simple at a 2x2 or 3x3 size. The bargellos will be really complicated but small, so manageable; I just wanted to understand how these things go together because I think they are soo cool. I have a preliminary design for Sunflower, which is below. The fabrics may completely change - I was just playing around in EQ and this is what I came up with. I haven't actually shopped for fabrics yet.

Whoa, Y-seams and everything. I'm still having trouble getting the hang of Y-seams. I usually end up sewing them by hand, and then I'm tired of it.

Oh, I have no idea what Y-seams are. :) I just designed this quilt -- have no idea if I'd be able to actually do it, although I'd like to. Not if I'd have to sew anything by hand, though!
