Entry permalink Three Tops -- Posted by Uncorked

The tops for the three baby quilts are finished. They're the same except for the borders. I think the blue-bordered one is my favorite, but then I'm partial to blue, however much I try to resist! (Each of these is about 28 by 28 inches.)

I can't finish these until I make another trip to Jinny Beyer. I had only planned on making one, but since I made three, I need some extra fabric for the backing. Currently, I'm thinking that I'll use the sandstone fabric for the backing of all of them, but that could change.

gorgeous! Your friends are lucky you have fallen in love with quilting and they get to reap the results :-)

They are really lovely.

These look great. I, too, like the blue border best. Do you know how you plan to quilt them yet?

Thanks all.

Trish, I'm doing to do really simple quilting. I'll probably just stitch in the ditch of the dark purple strips or something easy like that. I haven't tried any non-straight-line quilting yet, except on scraps.

Hi. I'm also a just beginner quilter (I just bought my sewing maching last weekend!) and I wanted to start with a 4 rail fence pattern. Could you tell me what width you cut your strips or send me other measurements of the pattern? Or is that cheating? ;)

Thanks!

I recently found your blog, and just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy reading it! For a quilter who started just a little over a year ago, you are going great guns!!

I can't pick a favorite - they all look wonderful! And I just bought EQ5, so I'm looking forward to designing quilts with it like you do.

Surfer girl -- there are 4 blocks in this 2x2 pattern. Each block is finished at 12in by 12in. Each of the strips is cut at 2 inches wide. After stitching with quarter inch seams they are 1.5 inches wide in the finished block.

Those came out fabulous. Between you and my sister, I REALLY am feeling the pressure to break out the dang sewing machine. The end result is just so amazing!
