Entry permalink What next? -- Posted by Katxena

I'm not sure what project I want to tackle next. In no meaningful order, here are the projects I plan to complete before Labor Day:

Sewing
The Small Flowers Purse (for D)
The Coffee Purse (for R)
The Beautiful People Purse (for me!)
The Helpful Tote (for M)
Quilted Christmas Gift Bags (for me!)
Quilted Grapevine Potholders (for N)
Quilted Bandana Placemats (for J)
A Skirt (for me!)

Knitting-related
Lace-edged raglan cardigan (for me!)
Continue spinning (for me!)
Easter Egg Socks (for me!)

Please parden the exclamation points. I get excited when things are for me. There's no particular deadline associated with any of these projects (although a few are destined to be Christmas gifts). It would make some sense for me to finish The Helpful Tote before I work on other projects. I'm not sure if I'll even make the Small Flowers Purse -- my recent experience embroidering the label for my brother's quilt inspired an idea for an embroidered purse that would be a better gift for D than Small Flowers would be.

I have fabric purchased for all of these projects except for the placemats and the skirt. And of course the project I most want to make is the skirt. And of course the how-to-make-a-skirt-based-on-only-three-measurements-and-without-a-pattern class that my local fabric store offers has been canceled. My second choice would be to work on one of the purses.

My knitting projects are on-going, concurrent with the sewing projects, and the above confirms that I'm holding to my New Year's resolution: no knitting for anyone who doesn't share my address.

So I'm not sure what I will do next. I'll be out of town this weekend, so I have time to think about it.

For the sake of completeness, here is the list of projects I want to finish before the end of 2004, not including those listed above:

Sewing
The Purple Haze Purse (for me!)
A crib quilt (for S), no pattern yet
Cute baby clothes (also for S), no pattern yet
A Christmas-themed wall-hanging (for me!), no pattern yet
A tote bag (for G), no pattern yet

Knitting
Alpaca pullover (for me!), no pattern yet
More socks (for me!), no pattern yet

I think that's more than enough to keep me busy!

Wow -- and I thought I was being overly ambitious for what I want to accomplish for the rest of the year! :)

That's a long list!

I would love to do everything I have listed in the sidebar under potential projects by the end of '04, but realistically I'll be lucky if I get half of that done.

It's really crazy, isn't it? The only thing that makes it workable is that these are all fairly small projects. My current fav purse pattern takes me about 8 hours. For the Helpful Tote (which I will hopefully make this upcoming weekend), I'm going to try a new pattern that looks like it should take much less time.
