Entry permalink What a mess -- Posted by Katxena

It's a mess, but it's a mess that represents fun. I came home from work early yesterday, and I spent yesterday afternoon and evening, and all of today (so far), making a mess in my dining area:

I've been busy. I made an 18-inch pillow for a dear friend of mine who really needs a hug right now, using the instructions Lyn used for several pillows (including a super cool one with purses on it for me!)

I started and finished the Helpful Tote (pictures later) and I have cut out the Beautiful People Purse and the Urban Nightmare Purse (which I didn't mention in my entry about upcoming projects -- I found the fabric in my stash and decided I liked it better than Beautiful People, so I'm making Urban Nightmare for me and giving Beautiful People away as a gift).

I really like the new pattern I used for the Helpful Tote (McCall's 3136 view A). I need to futz with it a bit to cut it down to purse size, but I didn't feel like doing that today, so I'm using my old faithful pattern (Simplicity 8331 view D) for UN and BP. I've been adapting this pattern so that I can cut out the pieces with my rotary cutter, and so that I can use a variety of different closures: a zipper, a magnetic clasp, or a flap (with either velcro or a button).

I think I'll go cut out the pieces for the Small Flowers Purse. I've already got the mess made, so I may as well make the most of it!

I'll try to oblige! I didn't have such a good day today though. I only did one tiny bit of sewing, and I totally screwed that bit up -- I hate button holes.

Let's hope the rest of this week is better. I'm really on a tear.

I´m also using the simplicity 8331 - you mention magnetic clasps.... where on earth do you get them, I´ve been searching for ages!

I found it at my local Hancock's fabric store. I've seen them at Joann's too. I didn't like the one I used. It was very strong and caused the fabric of my purse to rip!
