Entry permalink A shopping I went -- Posted by Katxena

This is why I don't make lists -- they change too often! As a result of a shopping trip I made today (more about that in a moment), my list of soon-to-be-made projects is now almost completely different.

I went to the Rockville, Maryland branch of G Street Fabrics today. I highly recommend this branch of the store (I haven't visted the others). It's like having a fully-stocked quilt store inside a high-quality fabric shop next door to a special occassion dress-makers shop above a decorator's studio. It's crammed full of lots of fantastic, high quality stuff, and the staff is helpful and friendly. And it's next door to an AC Moore, so you can stock up on all your crafty needs!

I bought fabric for two purses (which will be called the Coffee Snob Purse and the Fusion Purse), and linings for both of those and for a few that I have on the drawing boards at home. I also remembered that I promised I'd make a crochet hook organizer for a friend of mine, so I bought some cute fabric for that. And I bought thread for everything, webbing for purse straps, ribbons for the crochet hook organizer and beads just because I liked them. At the AC Moore, I picked up some plastic needlepoint canvas (which I use to reinforce the bottoms of purses).

All the fabric is washed and ironed and put away -- now I just need to revise my list! Oh, and find time to sew. I sense another sewing vacation in my future.

Entry permalink Status Report -- Posted by Lyn

I haven't had much time for quilting lately. I spent most of the month of May travelling and the first week of June trying to catch up on sleep. I'm still really overtired and Lyn being overtired is really not a pleasant thing. I tend to get alternately weepy and extremely grumpy. But, I took a short nap yesterday and a longer nap today; I have no travel in the near future, and I'm slowly, slowly getting rested up.

This evening I spent some time with the baby quilt commission. It's now sandwiched, basted, and I stitched around the edge to stabilize. There will be minimal quilting for this, as there was for the other Baby Steps quilts and I'm hoping I can finish it up very soon. It's later than I had hoped and it's not quite as good as I'd hoped it would come out, so I think I'm going to give my friend a discount on the price we negotiated.

I have the same reactions when I am overtired or over stressed-all I can say is, it's good to rest and not try and quilt when you are overtired. Hope you are back to feeling your usual energy filled self soon and get this quilt finished up-
