Urban Nightmare -- Posted by Katxena
I call this purse "urban nightmare" because it reminds me of those sequences found in some old black and white movies where the hero is running from something and brief images of obstacles flash across the screen -- neon signs, barking dogs, speeding cars, and so on. It's like a nightmare. ![]() The picture above shows the outside of the purse. The fabric is from Robert Kaufman, and is printed in 7 shades of gray, two shades of white, and one shade of black. It's very detailed and "pops." I love it! Below you can see the inside of the purse. At the edge of the purse, you can see the three layers that make up the purse body: the fabric on the outside, the interfacing on the inside, and a pink fabric in the middle. I have a lot of this pink canvas-like fabric (it's like a heavy twill), and it gives every purse I've used it on a warm cast that I really like, and adds body and weight to the bag. ![]() The lining is a bright, purplish-red. I've put one large pocket inside, which I've divided into two compartments. ![]() I'm about halfway done. I still have to make the straps (out of the same red fabric) and attach them to the purse body, then attach the body and lining, then install the magnetic closure. I'm not sure yet how much top stitching I will do -- I will at least go around the top of the purse, to catch the opening I'm leaving for turning. But beyond that, I'm not sure. I need to see how it looks. I made a very similar purse for my sister-in-law about a year ago. This fabric is leftover from her purse. I hope she doesn't mind that we'll have matching purses! Hers will still be one-of-a-kind though -- I've made totally different mistakes on this one. 0 comment(s). Add a comment... |
