Entry permalink New JB Newsletter -- Posted by Lyn

There's a new Jinny Beyer newsletter available on her website. Neat stuff in it. I'm a little frustrated though because I've signed up to be on the snailmail list for this newsletter twice in person at the store and still never received one. I spend a fair bit of money there, so it's irritating that I can't seem to get on the list.

Entry permalink Auction Quilt Basted -- Posted by Lyn

I worked some more on the auction quilt this weekend. Got it basted and sewed the edges down. Here's a picture (if you look closely you can see the pins basting it).

And here is a picture of the back folded over. The label is small. It just says: "All Too Quilty Designs July 2004."
I love when they reach this phase and start feeliing like blankets. I'm going to straightline quilt this one on the diagonals of the design in matching thread colors. Except I don't think I'm going to quilt inside the pink.

Love the effect of the border. It always amazes me what a difference borders make. Quilts just look undressed to me without borders.

I think the same way. And I often seem to want at least two borders and sometimes have to talk myself out of doing three!

I often feel exactly the opposite. I find borders distracting and overly structured. I especially like the busy-ness of pieced blocks without a border.
