Entry permalink JB Holiday FQs -- Posted by Lyn

For fun, I recently got a Jinny Beyer holiday fat quarter pack. I'm thinking I might do a stack-and-slash Christmas quilt for us out of these as my next project. It will be super easy (in theory), will produce something that I'll keep, and will give me a break from the more challenging (to me) stuff for awhile. I may or may not leave the purple fabric in this sequence, and I may (or may not) add another fabric or two. There are 10 fat quarters here - I may add a couple of others so that I end up making a 3 block by 4 block quilt in the end.

Entry permalink Commission I Blocks Finished -- Posted by Lyn

Ok, the computer situation seems to have stabilized for the moment, so here are a couple of pictures from my chain piecing extravaganze yesterday that resulted in 16 finished blocks for Commission I. I laid them out on the carpet to get a sense of what the top will look like when they're all pieced together. I'm going to add a thin gold border and then a wider dark red border and that will be the top. I think it looks pretty good so far.

I really like the pattern -- it looks super cool.

Looks great! It's so bold. I don't think it suffers from the "stripey-ness" that you were concerned about. Hope your commission likes it too!

Entry permalink Bought Some Fun Holiday Fabric -- Posted by Lyn

Hancock's of Paducah put some of their Christmas fabric on sale this month, so of course I had to buy some. I decided to get some of this and this.

Those were sale items. And then I was browsing around and saw this and had to have some.

No idea what I'll use these for, but they're pretty!

Those Hoffman cardinals might be nice in that Christmas tree wall hanging pattern you posted on recently. I know you're a piecer, but I've seen them cut out and appliqued, too. They're so cute, they would look good in anything.

Yeah, but then I've had to teach myself how to applique, and it seems both fussy and hard. :)
