Another gallery -- Posted by Katxena
I've not got the time for sewing lately, as my husband and I are buying a house. But I hope to get back to it soon -- I have a baby quilt that has to be finished by January.
In the meantime, I've been surfing quilts, and I'm completely captivated by A Piece of My Soul: Quilts by Black Arkansans. The site profiles quilts from the quilt collection of the Old State House Museum, in Little Rock, Arkansas. The site includes family and individual histories of several quilters, and also catalogs their quilts by type. My favorite quilts in the collection are this log cabin quilt and this pine cone quilt. I also like the Jacob’s Ladder & 16 Patch Quilt. The website also has an interesting section with the histories and stories behind some of the patterns.
I'm trying to figure out if there is a way to make something similar to the pine cone quilt above, but without making all those heavy prarie points -- any ideas?
