Books and Cooks D.C. (BCDC) is the third incarnation of the Books and Cooks reading group. The original was founded in 1998 in Ithaca, New York. Later, a group was spun off in the San Francisco Bay Area called Books and Cooks West. BCDC was formed in February of 2001 in the Washington D.C. area. It meets every 6-8 weeks and tends to choose rather eclectic selections, both fiction and nonfiction.

Selections are chosen by soliciting suggestions from members and then discussing the suggestions at the meetings. Most of our organizational and logistical issues are sorted out over e-mail.

The next meeting will be at Chris and Kristie's on April 14th; we will be discussing The Race to Save the Lord God Bird by Phillip Hoose.

Nominations in the category of "Modern British Literature" are due Friday April 13, 2007.

Potential categories for upcoming meetings.
BCDC Guidelines as of July 2005.
