Adrian's Kringle Recipe
Served with The Alienist Kringle Recipe Dough: 4 cups all purpose flour 1 cup butter, slightly softened 2 tb sugar 1 tsp salt 1 pkg dry yeast 2 eggs, beaten 1 cup milk Filling: 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 cup brown sugar 1 tsp cinnamon 6 tb butter, melted 1 cup chopped nuts (optional) Glaze: 2 2/3 cups powdered sugar 2 tb butter, softened 4 tb hot water 1 tb milk 2 tsp vanilla Put flour, butter, sugar and salt into a bowl. Blend together until mixture is crumbly. In a separate bowl mix the dry yeast, beaten eggs, and milk. Add milk mixture to dry ingredients. Mix well with a fork until all the ingredients are blended. It will pull away from the sides and form a ball. Divide into two pieces, flatten into disks, wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate over night. Preheat oven to 350. Mix together sugars and cinnamon. Roll out each piece of dough 1/8 inch thick and as long as your cookie sheet. Brush each piece of dough with half of the melted butter, sprinkle each piece with half of the sugar mixture and top with half of the nuts. Roll the long ends from each side into the center. Pinch the center together and roll the ends under. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 20-25 minutes. Remove from cookie sheet to cooling rack and let cool 10 minutes before glazing. Mix glaze ingredients together and whisk until smooth. Top kringles with the glaze. |
