2006 Book Readings
My book reading was not satisfactory this past year for a few reasons. First, I think I missed a few in this list, as I wasn't keeping track as well as I should have been. Second, even so, I didn't get through as much I was hoping to. Around about August I fell into a big slump. And third, of course, is that I spend so much time reading for work and reading the various periodicals I get on the Metro, that at night sometimes I don't feel like doing much beyond watching Fresh Prince (see previous post).Of the list below, I think my favorite was Omnivore's Dilemma.

I really loved The Omnivore's Dilemma. Out of this set, I also enjoyed In Cold Blood and Your Money or Your Life (which feel like they should be about the same thing, given their titles...).

I really think you should have given [undisclosed] by [undisclosed] a higher rating.

I totally didn't keep any sort of track of the books I read in 2006. Maybe this year will be different. I did read several issues of "Real Simple" magazine, which I have now decided is just "Martha Stewart Living" repackaged for the young n' wealthy moms crowd. But its creative use of origami assemblages gets it a solid 3.0 rating on the 5-point scale of total magazine enjoyment. Its pages will also make excellent collage material.
As for books, I am saving valuable time by having my husband read "Smart Couples Finish Rich" and summarize it for me. I think I can figure out the system, though. Step 1: Earn a living wage. Not earning a living wage? Stop buying stupid self-help books.

Real Simple magazine is the *best* for collage material. All those wonderful colors, and the superlatives all spelled out in attractive fonts. It rocks. My second favorite magazine for this purpose is O.

Great book list this year! I read Taking Charge of Your Fertility too, and I loved it. If only more women *really* knew about their cycles.
btw, have you heard of LibraryThing? I'm addicted. It's an online catalog for books you own and/or have read. What's cool is it gives you suggestions based on what people who liked the same books as you have also enjoyed.
