RECIPES at Uncorked.org

I like to cook, although I don't very often cook imaginatively due to time constraints. Most of my cooking skills are self-taught. I used to eat primarily vegetarian with a few chicken and fish dishes thrown in here and there. (And of course, there's the whole chocolate food group.) lately, though, I've been eating complete crap. I need to stop that. I plan to eventually get all of the Moosewood cookbooks (have three or four already). I also like to grill (bought a little Weber charcoal grill a couple of years ago and had a lot of fun experimenting with that.) Below are some links to cooking sites, some recipes that I tend to use a lot, and some links to recipes found elsewhere on the web. I also maintain a page about wine separately.

Cooking and Food Sites:

Epicurious Food -- Comprehensive with all kinds of tidbits, includes a recipe file with more than 8500 recipes.

SOAR -- The Searchable Online Archive of recipes. Got some extra cilantro? SOAR allows you to type in 'cilantro' to see recipes that call for it. SOAR also has lists of many ethnic foods and is part of a larger recipe webring.

World Wide Weber -- Weber grills. Includes some grilling recipes and tips.

The Moosewood Restaurant -- World-famous vegetarian restaurant located in Ithaca, New York.

Veggies Unite! -- "Your online guide to vegetarianism." Recipes, newsletters, articles, etc.

Links to specific recipes (I'm adding them as I get them transcribed):

Balsamic Peaches -- A really interesting side dish: grilled peaches glazed with a balsamic vinegar/pepper/molasses sauce. Goes well with grilled chicken.

Buche de Noel -- A great holiday recipe; a chocolate log cake with mocha filling. Very rich.

Crab Stuffed Mushrooms -- Haven't tried this yet, but snagged it from Xeney's forum quite awhile ago. Looks yummy.

Spiced Pecans -- Beth's recipe. Excellent around the holidays. Makes the house smell great and is great for parties.

Tofu, Spinach & Walnut Loaf -- From The Enchanted Broccoli Forest -- a hearty, filling, vegetarian loaf; adjust the spices to taste

Roasted Garlic Dressing -- From a Moosewood cookbook. Scrumptious. My absolute favorite salad dressing.

Kim's Chicken Mole -- A nice easy mole recipe that goes very well over rice.

Leek and Goat Cheese Tart -- A recipe snagged from the Wine Spectator. Scrumptious.

Doug's Risotto -- In August of '99 Doug made some wonderful risotto for dinner. I haven't tried this recipe yet, but I hope it comes out half as well as what was on our plates. :-)

Irish Brownies -- Very rich chocolate brownies with an Irish Cream/Cream Cheese Frosting.

Lemon Herb Rice Pilaf -- A Moosewood recipe, very easy -- turns plain brown rice into a tasty side dish.

Jello Salad -- Cool, fruity, summery, picnic-type recipe.

Pistachio Pudding Salad -- Recipe from Mom, haven't tried it yet.

No-Bake Cookies -- Recipe from Mom.

Garlic Soup -- From the cookbook Garlic Garlic Garlic.

Anita's Slow-Cooked Roasted Garlic -- posted on a Cozy entry (scroll down)

Moosewood Fudge Brownies -- Simple recipe that goes extremely well served warm with vanilla ice cream.

Mari's Chicken Pie -- Marilena Gouvêa's chicken pie recipe.

Chicken Dijon -- From the Better Homes and Gardens cookbook. Goes very well with the rice pilaf above.

Mom's Lasagna -- Vegetarian lasagna with lots more than just tomatos!

Chocolate Ricotta Mousse -- Another fabulous Moosewood recipe, and almost healthy, besides! (For mousse, that is.)
